PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) and sophomore Sunny Harris (Pensacola, Fla.) birdied one of golf's most famous holes to help the UCF women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Labor Day Shootout hosted by Jacksonville at the fabled PLAYERS Stadium Course at the TPC at Sawgrass.

The event was shortened to 27 holes due to darkness and UCF placed fourth with a score of 479. Coastal Carolina edged Florida for the title with a final score of 464.

Sophomore Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) placed sixth overall by shooting a plus-8 116 (77-39), leaving her five strokes back of individual medalist Courtney Boe of Coastal Carolina. Detlefsen narrowly missed a Top 10 finish, placing 11th with a plus-11 119 (84-35). Detlefsen's 35 on the front nine was the best score of the second round in the 38-golfer field. Freshman Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) tied for 15th place in her collegiate debut with a 121.

The Knights had six Top 20 finishers as Harris placed 18th with a 123 and sophomore Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) checked in at No. 19 with a 124. Sophomore Jordyn Hage tied for 20th with her 127. Freshman Isabelle Bachtiar (Karlestad, Sweden) rounded out the Knights' lineup by tying for 26th place with a 132.

The 17th hole's iconic island green is one of the most famous in golf and annually vexes even the finest players in the world during The PLAYERS Championship, widely considered to be the PGA TOUR's fifth major. Detlefsen and Harris were able to make the 120-yard par-three in two shots. Pinegger, Price and Hage each made par on the hole.

UCF doesn't have much time off before getting back to competition s the Knights head to beautiful Charleston, S.C. Sept. 12-14 for the Cougar Classic.
