ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Moving to the United States just one month ago, freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) has already made an immediate impact on the UCF's men's golf team.

The transition to a university is challenging for freshmen, but combine that with moving to a new country and that can put a lot of stress on a student-athlete.

"I think leaving everything behind, and doing everything myself [has been my biggest challenge]. I have been a lot more stressed out with personal things and college work. We do get to socialize if we keep on top of things. It's definitely difficult and something I need to improve on and learn a lot more about myself. But I'm enjoying the challenge nonetheless," said Eason.

Despite the challenges placed before him Eason is doing his best to adjust to life at UCF. With the help of his teammates and coaches, Eason has been able to keep on track both on and off the golf course.

A minor setback in week one at the Wolf Run in Zionsville, Ind., left Eason feeling a little discouraged heading into his second collegiate event in Rhode Island. However due to what he refers to as "luck," he earned medalist honors and led the Knights to a title at the Adams Cup of Newport. That same week he earned his first Conference USA Golfer of the Week award. It is the high level of competition that head coach Bryce Wallor demands from his players that has placed Eason is a position to excel on the team.

"The standard of the competition is not like at home. We play a serious competition once a month [at home], but here the standard is so great. It is serious competition every week. It's great to see yourself in competition against the likes of the older guys, and it does you well," claimed Eason.

With the immediate success Eason has had on the team thus far, his "luck" will hopefully be something he sees often throughout the season.
