ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Knights open the 2010 Conference USA schedule at Bright House Networks Stadium Wednesday, Oct. 6, against UAB. Kickoff between the Knights and Blazers is scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Plenty of fun activities are planned for fans attending the game, as UCF is attempting to establish a student attendance record. All college students will receive free admission to the contest.
Get to Bright House Networks Stadium early before the game, and catch Remove Before Flight in concert from 6-7 p.m. The band will be performing their fan-favorite, UCF football-themed hit "Knightmare," along with songs from their self-titled studio release. Starting at 5 p.m., UCF students will be competing in the Hooters Chicken Wing Eating Contest, pitting several campus organizations against each other. Tickets for the game are still available by calling (407) UCF-1000.
UCF enters the contest at 2-2, and is looking to rebound from a tough loss at Kansas State. UAB (1-3, 0-1) is also feeling the effects of losing a close game after a double-overtime loss to Tennessee in Knoxville. Both teams will be coming off a bye week, and are eagerly anticipating the nationally-televised game.
The Knights are 6-1 against the Blazers all-time including a 34-27 victory last season at Legion Field. UCF quarterback Brett Hodges completed 24-of-38 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Tailback Brynn Harvey carried the ball 24 times for 130 yards and a touchdown in the win. In Joe Webb's final collegiate game, the dual-threat quarterback threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns and also carried the ball 18 times for 137 yards and a score. The Blazers' last ditch effort to tie the game fell short at the UCF 39 on a fourth and 9 incomplete pass.
