ATHENS, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's top doubles tandem - senior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) and junior Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) - posted a big win Saturday on day two of the Southern Intercollegiates at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The pair advanced to the semifinals of the top doubles bracket at the event.
Facing Christian Blocker and Keith Crowley of Miami, the Knights posted an 8-6 win over the third-seeded tandem. Delinks and Schwartz will meet Will Spencer and Drake Bernstein of host Georgia in the semifinals Sunday.
Play at the tournament began on Friday. The event is scheduled to run through Monday.
Junior Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) fell to Sergey Belov of Winthrop (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) in the round of 32 in the top singles bracket.
Sophomore Mario Samson (Miami, Fla.) was the only UCF player to post a singles win Saturday. He got past Elliott Barnwell of Middle Tennessee, 6-4, 7-6 (5), in the consolation bracket.
The tournament is the second of the fall campaign for the Knights.
