ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With the 2010-11 campaign quickly approaching, several college basketball preview magazines are already on newsstands. Three Knights have received Conference USA accolades from some of the publications.
Both The Sporting News and Lindy's listed junior guard Isaac Sosa (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) as the top shooter in C-USA. In 2009-10, Sosa led the league, shooting 42.7 percent from 3-point range. He connected on 71 triples and averaged a team-best 10.3 points per game.
Lindy's also named junior guard A.J. Rompza (Chicago, Ill.) the top defender in the conference. He finished his sophomore season ninth nationally in steals per game at 2.6. The point guard recorded 81 steals, which ranked fourth on the UCF single-season list. Rompza registered at least three steals 14 times.
Sophomore forward Keith Clanton (Orlando, Fla.) was a preseason All-C-USA Third Team selection by Lindy's. Clanton averaged 9.7 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds last year. He was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
The Knights open the season on Nov. 12, hosting West Florida at the UCF Arena. UCF will play 17 home contests in 2010-11, which is serving as new head coach Donnie Jones' first campaign in Orlando. Season tickets, which start at just $96 and include a free Knightmare t-shirt, are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
