Quotes from the Weekend
Junior Kristin Fisher on her team's performance vs. Baylor
"We did not give up at all tonight. That just shows us where we are and where we can be, especially since we took that first set. It really shows the level that we can play at. I'm proud to say that we did not panic during sets two through four. The sense of panic did not come up and that just shows us the improvements we have made."

Head coach Todd Dagenais on Nichole Riedel
"Nicole has been working very hard during practice and we have been trying to find ways to get her into the offense. She has been working hard and it is paying off in matches now. We feel like we can set her in a variety of situations and as we go forward we have to figure out more ways to get her the ball and start spreading the offense more in her direction."

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After hosting its first matches of the season last weekend as part of the Courtyard by Marriott/UCF Classic, the UCF volleyball team was finally able to feel the love from the home crowd after spending the previous two weeks on the road.

But, the euphoria of being able to sleep in their own beds will be short-lived for the Knights, as they are scheduled to play their next six matches away from the friendly confines of The Venue at UCF.

It's not all bad news for the squad however, as through its first nine matches of the season UCF has tallied a perfect 6-0 record on the road.

Back-to-Back Success Through 10
Though the Knights have only played nine matches so far in 2010, it is safe to say that they will have one of the most successful starts to a season in program history through its first 10 contests. Last season, the Black and Gold started the year with an 8-2 record for the first time since 2001. This season, UCF could match that mark and possibly become the first team to hold an 8-2 mark in back-to-back seasons since 1978-79.

Atop C-USA
With their impressive 7-2 record, the Knights sit in a three-way tie with Memphis and SMU for the top spot in Conference USA standings, with their seven-match winning streak to open the season was the longest in the league this season. Kristin Fisher currently ranks third in both kills per set (4.55) and points per set (4.97), and Rachel Vukson and Nichole Riedel each rank fourth in the league in assists per set (10.26) and attack percentage (.349), respectively. Also ranking in the league's top-10 are Meredith Murphy (4.23 digs/set), Tory McCutcheon (.307 attack percentage) and Evija Vilde (0.31 service aces per set).

On the National Scene
The first NCAA national rankings of the season were released Tuesday, with UCF ranking in the top-100 in three categories and two different Knights ranking in the top-100 individually. As a team, the Black and Gold is No. 34 with a 12.88 assists-per-set average, while posting a No. 54 ranking in both kills per set (13.63) and winning percentage (.778). Not surprisingly, junior Kristin Fisher is one of the best players on the national scene, ranking No. 13 in kills per set (4.55) and No. 21 in points per set (4.97), while fellow junior Rachel Vukson holds down the No. 61 spot in assists per set (10.26).

Five in Double-Digits
Despite falling to Jacksonville Saturday afternoon in the final contest of the Courtyard by Marriott/UCF Classic, the Black and Gold had five players post double-digit kills. Kristin Fisher posted a match and career-high 23 kills, Nichole Riedel and Evija Vilde each totaled 12 kills and Sara Rex and Brittanie Wallace contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively, against the Dolphins. The last time UCF had five players with 10 or more kills was in the five-set victory at USF to close out the 2009 season on Nov. 25.

Murphy, Fisher on a Double-Digit Streak
Both Meredith Murphy and Kristin Fisher concluded the Courtyard by Marriott/UCF Classic with impressive streaks. Murphy has posted 10 or more digs in 18-straight matches, while Fisher has totaled 10 or more kills in 16-consecutive contests.

Captain Showing the Way
Kristin Fisher not only leads the team off of the court as the Knights' captain, but she has also led the Black and Gold in kills in every match she has played in 2010. In addition, Fisher has also been the match leader in kills in every contest she has competed.

Up Next for UCF
The Knights take to the court again Sept. 17-18 in Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Chattanooga Classic. During the event, the squad will take on James Madison, the host Mocs and Belmont.

Season tickets are now available for purchase for only $30 online at UCFAthletics.com or by calling the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at (407) UCF-1000. The Knights are set to host 13 regular-season matches at The Venue at UCF this season, which includes 10 Conference USA contests.
