ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When he first arrived in Orlando, head coach Donnie Jones declared that his program would focus on attracting some of the best talent in Florida to play at UCF. One look at the Knights' non-conference schedule shows just how committed Jones is to showcasing UCF throughout the Sunshine State.
The Knights will play 12 total games in Florida before they open Conference USA action. In addition to nine contests at the UCF Arena, UCF will also travel to south Florida when it meets Miami as part of the Orange Bowl Classic, travel east to play Stetson in DeLand and head to downtown Orlando to take on Florida at the new Amway Center.
Jones believes that the games in Florida will help educate state residents, including potential recruits, about the UCF program.
"That is huge," he said. "I think that was our focus. We want to recruit the state. Also, the majority of our alumni are in the state. I think it is important for us to do a good job exposure wise."
The Knights will begin the 2010-11 campaign on Nov. 12, hosting West Florida. Season tickets, which begin at just $96, are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or visiting UCFAthletics.com.
