ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Sophomore defender Bianca Joswiak (Berlin, Germany) came up from her position on the backline to score two goals to help guide the UCF women's soccer team past 2009 Ivy League champion Harvard, 3-0, Friday at the UCF Soccer Complex. Junior Katie Jackson (Satellite Beach, Fla.) scored what would be the game-winner in the eighth minute, as the Knights won their fourth-straight and improved to 4-1-0 on the year.

"Once we got into a rhythm, started moving forward and finding it wide we were pretty dangerous," said head coach Amanda Cromwell. "We are making better decisions in the attacking third and that's what we worked on all week. I think we're happy with the patience we showed, the times we moved forward and the times we took risks."

UCF finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots over Harvard (1-1-1). Starting keeper Aline Reis made her return after sitting out the previous two matches and played 60:33 minutes with one save, while Jaclyn Meade played the final 29:27 and also produced a save.

After seven minutes where both teams tried to settle in to the flow of the match, the first shot of the night ended up putting UCF ahead 1-0 in the eighth minute. As Kim Newsome dribbled down towards the end line to the left of the net, she found a small passing lane to the front where Jackson was waiting for an easy put-away. It was her second of the season.

One goal was not a lot of breathing room with plenty of time remaining, so the Knights searched for one more and got it in the 29th minute. Receiving a pass from Tishia Jewell, Amanda Martorana raced down the right side. While Martorana got the attention of the Harvard backs, Joswiak realized it was a perfect time to step up from her position. As Joswiak flew past the Crimson, Martorana delivered a perfect ball into the box where Joswiak's diving header attempt sailed into the far right corner for her second-career goal.

"I don't know how that happened," said Joswiak as she went to the bench for a sub in the first half. After the match she was able to explain it a little further with a smile, "I just ran probably 80 yards so I knew I needed to get the ball. It was worth it. Tonight we had a lot more patience than usual so that was really good."

With a 2-0 advantage entering the second half, UCF kept going at the Crimson and immediately pushed it to 3-0 in the 47th minute. As Katie Bolinsky spent the first half on the bench, she started the second half and quickly made an impact. Taking a pass from Joswiak, Bolinsky sent it back to Joswiak who had her first shot from 13 yards out blocked only to have the rebound trickle towards the net. All by herself, she tapped it home for her second goal of the night.

That score allowed the Black and Gold to coast the rest of the half. It almost put in its fourth goal on a couple of different chances, including a header off a corner by Marissa Diggs that was saved by Alexandra Millet as well as a quick shot from Bolinsky that also was stopped, but the 3-0 lead was more than enough for UCF to notch the win.

UCF now looks ahead to its longest road trip of the year when it starts a three-match road journey at No. 8 Florida State Sunday at 1 p.m. The Knights will then travel to the Arizona Tournament where they meet Arizona Sept. 17 and No. 24 Arizona State Sept. 19. They will eventually return home to open the Conference USA schedule against East Carolina Sept. 24 and Marshall on Bright House Sports Network Sept. 26.
