ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Marcus Jordan (Chicago, Ill.) had his share of impressive shooting performances during his rookie campaign. Most notably, the guard shot 9-of-9 overall on his way to a season-best 23 points in UCF's victory at Houston in January.

Jordan also had some games in which he would like to forget about his shooting. As a result, Jordan, a 2009-10 Conference USA All-Freshman Team pick, shot with a purpose this offseason. He tweaked his shot after connecting on 41.3 percent of his attempts as a rookie. His goal is to raise his release point, and also be able to drain jumpers in new head coach Donnie Jones' fast-paced system.

"My shot has always been kind of flat. I am trying to get my release point a lot higher, and trying to get more arc on the ball," Jordan said. "We are going to be running a lot more. In transition, I will be able to get set for an open jump shot after I beat my man up the floor."

While he worked to improve his shot, Jordan also made gains with his strength and conditioning. He has dropped around 10 pounds since the start of the summer, and hopes to lose 10 more pounds to get to 200 before the 2010-11 campaign begins.

"I am still trying to lose a little bit of weight and get back into tip-top shape. I have been eating a lot healthier, a lot of whole-wheat wraps. It is a little bit of diet and more hard work on the court," he said.
