ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Monday might have been UCF's fifth day of preseason football camp but it was the first day where it truly felt like football as the Knights wore full pads and went at it in an intense two hour-plus session amidst high humidity in Orlando.
The Knights worked on tackling in several live drills. The team also ran through several high-intensity periods of inside run work and kept the tempo high despite the humid morning air.
Several visitors of note attended practice as well. UCF's original head coach, Don Jonas, stopped by to say hello as did former Knight safety Jason Venson (2004-08). With the donning of pads, UCF also saw its first three NFL scouts of the season as representatives from the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks were on hand. With a 20-member senior class that includes several pro prospects, there will likely be no shortage of scouts from around the league headed to Orlando this fall.
Since it worked well on Monday, UCF will once again practice in the morning on Tuesday after thunderstorms forced both of this past weekend's practices to me moved indoors. The session will run from roughly 9-11:30 a.m.
