Orlando, FL (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF defensive end Leger Douzable signed with Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The former All-Conference USA player was last with the Detroit Lions, and as reported in the Detroit Free Press last week, was released on the eve of the Lions signing their 2010 first round draft pick, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
The Jaguars are Douzable's fifth NFL team since signing as a rookie free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2008.
Presently listed at 6-4, 284 pounds, also played with the St. Louis Rams (2009-10), New York Giants (2008-09) after signing with the Vikings following his collegiate career.
He's now in his second second year switching to defensive tackle and will help provide stability to the Jaguars defensive line that lost D'Anthony Smith to an Achilles injury and have had several other injuries that have cut into their depth.
In 2009, Douzable played in 12 games for St. Louis, including one start (against Houston), recording 16 tackles, five tackles for loss and four quarterback pressures.
A four-year letterwinner at UCF, Douzable was a two-time Academic All-Conference USA honoree and was named to the All-Conference USA first team following a senior season where he led the Knights with 7.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.
