ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF men's tennis head coach Bobby Cashman announced Tuesday that Chad Berryhill has been named the Knights' new assistant coach. Berryhill comes to UCF after an impressive tenure as the women's head coach at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa.

Berryhill spent five years at Hillsborough, developing one of the top programs in the country. The Lady Hawks claimed the National Junior College Athletic Association national title in 2008 and were runners-up in 2006, 2007 and 2009. This past season, Hillsborough went 18-5 and finished third nationally. Olivia Howlett won the singles national championship and was selected as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Player of the Year.

Hillsborough won four-consecutive Florida Community College Activities Association state titles under Berryhill, including the crown in 2010. Berryhill also helped nine of his players sign with four-year universities.

"Chad is a great addition to our staff as he brings valuable head coaching experience," Cashman said. "At Hillsborough, he had the opportunity to work with and learn from Steve Smith, who is one of the most well-respected tennis instructors in the country. Chad is an excellent teacher and has great leadership skills."

Before moving to Hillsborough, Berryhill spent four years as a high school coach in Michigan, working at Grand Ledge and Grand Rapids. He is a graduate of Ferris State and holds a specialized degree in professional tennis management.

Berryhill is a USPTA and PTR certified tennis professional. He has also worked for the Nike Tennis Camps at Michigan State, Court One Athletic Club in Lansing, Mich., and as director of tennis at Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee, Wis. He has also done special projects and training for Florida State, Texas A&M and Harvard. At Hillsborough, he served as the administrative director of Steve Smith Tennis and was the facility manager for the HCC Tennis Complex.
