ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Thunderstorms couldn't keep 1,000 Knights fans away from a Saturday afternoon of fun as the football team hosted its annual Fan Day.
For many the excitement started at 2 p.m. with a special RE-UKNIGHT social event for Golden Knights Club members past and present at the Bright House Networks Stadium club lounge.
From there, fans stood three-deep nearly the whole way around the perimeter of the Nicholson Fieldhouse to catch a glimpse of a full scrimmage. John Denton recaps the on-the-field activities in his Knights Insider column.
Most of those fans, and several new ones were still in the Fieldhouse at 5 p.m. when UCF came back in full uniform for the annual Fan Day. The whole team, along with UCF's cheerleaders and KnightMoves dance team were in attendance for an always- popular autograph session and a chance for fans and student-athletes to meet each other up close.
Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the fans or players on a day when UCF received its first AP Poll vote since the day after claiming the 2007 Conference USA Championship, indicative of the high expectations for the Knights in 2010 as the team returns 17 starters.
