ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Monday, junior Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) of the UCF men's golf team will begin play at the U.S. Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. The event will serve as Arendell's fifth U.S. Amateur Championship.

In late July Arendell earned a spot in the championship by finishing second at qualifying in Estero, Fla.

Last year, he advanced to the round of 16 in match play at the championship. Arendell has posted some strong showings this summer. In July, he tied for third at the prestigious Dogwood Invitational in Atlanta. Competing at the Florida State Amateur Championship in Orlando in June, he tied for fifth.

In 2009-10, Arendell appeared in all 12 tournaments for the Knights. His best performance came at the Conference USA Championship in nearby Sorrento. He tied for second at 2-under 214, helping UCF take the conference crown for the second-straight year. Arendell was in his first campaign in Orlando after transferring from Louisville.
