DAHLONEGA, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's golfers Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) and Sunny Harris (Pensacola, Fla.) both represented the Knights at the Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship presented by the National Golf Coaches Association in Achasta Golf Club in northern Georgia.
The very unique format pitted teams of two from 53 schools in a three-day event. The opening round saw the teammates alternate shots. The second round saw each pair by best ball while the third and final round was scored as total strokes for the team.
Aoki and Harris tied for 35th overall in the event with a score of 316 (+28)
The opening round saw the Knights shoot an 89 playing alternating shots. Playing best ball, UCF shot a 71 on the second day, its best total of the three days, tying for 26th in the national field. The Knight pair totaled a 156 for the final round as Aoki shot a 76 and Harris an 80.
The Knights will open their 2010-11 campaign on Sept, 6 when they take part in the Labor Day Shootout at the famed TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach.
