ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Nick Zieziula, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at UCF, was introduced as the new men's tennis head coach at Georgia Southern Friday. The position at Georgia Southern will be the first head coaching post for Zieziula.
Zieziula worked under head coach Bobby Cashman in Orlando and assisted with recruiting, practice organization and individual instruction. He was also responsible for managing the program's video analysis.
In 2010, he helped the Knights post a successful season. Despite playing a challenging schedule that included eight nationally-ranked teams, the squad went 12-8. UCF spent nearly the entire spring campaign in the national rankings. The Knights earned the No. 3 seed - the best in school history - at the Conference USA Championship. In the quarterfinals at the tournament, UCF was a 4-2 winner over East Carolina.
"I am very pleased that Nick has the opportunity to be the head coach at Georgia Southern," said Cashman. "Georgia Southern is getting a quality head coach who has a great knowledge of college tennis and is an exceptional teacher. Our entire team wishes Nick nothing but the best in his new position."
Zieziula is the second UCF assistant in as many years to receive a head coaching position. In June 2008, Brandon Stokes was named the head coach at Florida Atlantic.
A member of the Southern Conference, Georgia Southern recorded an 8-13 mark this past spring.
