WNIT Bracket

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team will open the 2010-11 season and the 2010 Preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament on Nov. 13 at Florida, according to the bracket announced today. A game time for the contest will be determined at a later date. UCF will be competing in the 16-team field for the first time in program history.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to compete in the Preseason WNIT," said head coach Joi Williams. "Opening 2010-11 with this event is a great way to start our season. Traveling to Gainesville for our opening game will be a great early test for our team."

Williams and the Knights will return all five starters from the 2009-10 season, including leading scorer Chelsie Wiley (Riviera Beach, Fla.). Wiley, who has 1,069 points and 134 three-pointers made in her career, will be one of five seniors on an experienced UCF squad.

UCF and Florida will be joined in the field by: Austin Peay, Charlotte, DePaul, Hampton, Iona, James Madison, Lamar, Missouri State, Purdue, South Dakota State, Saint Francis (PA), Toledo, Utah Valley and Valparaiso. The UCF-Florida winner will face the winner of the Iona-Charlotte game on Nov. 15.

The Preseason WNIT features a three-game guarantee format. After the second-round games, semifinals will be Nov. 17-18 and the championship is set for Sunday, Nov. 21. Teams that lose in the first two rounds will play consolation games on the second weekend, Nov. 19-20. All games are hosted by participating schools, and sites are announced by the end of the preceding round.

UCF's complete 2010-11 schedule will be released at a later date.
