ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Kim Newsome (Apopka, Fla.) of the UCF women's soccer team recently received a major honor when she was named the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) player of the week. The forward, who is entering her senior campaign with the Knights, is playing for the FSA Freedom this summer.
Newsome was honored after scoring game-winning goals against Brandon F.C. and Palm Beach United.
This past season, Newsome appeared in all 23 matches for the Knights and finished with two goals and four assists for eight points. She scored one game-winner, and took 16 total shots, putting nine on net.
The FSA Freedom is based in Sanford. The WPSL is a 50-plus team national league with five conferences and is the largest women's soccer league in the world.
