ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Knights will travel to Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan. to battle Kansas State on Sep. 25. In 2009, the Wildcats finished 6-6 losing only one game at home. This will be UCF's final non-conference game of the year and it will be Kansas State's last out of conference game before they host Big 12 rival Nebraska on Oct. 7.
Offensive Player to Watch
In his first year taking over running back duties redshirt junior Daniel Thomas showed Kansas State faithful they have a lot to look forward too. Picking up over 1,290 yards on the ground he found the end zone 11 times. Thomas averaged over 105 yards a game last year.
Defensive Player to Watch
Redshirt senior Jeff Fitzgerald recorded 40 tackles at defensive end last season. Fitzgerald is coming off a strong campaign of seven sacks, one interception, three forced fumble and 2 blocked kicks in 2008. Fitzgerald anchors a fierce defensive line that only gave up 10 touchdowns on the ground last year.
First Ever Meeting
This will be the first ever meeting of these two universities on the football field. UCF is 63-64-1 all time in first meetings against opponents. Kansas State joins Nebraska and Texas to mark the third Big 12 opponent UCF has faced in its history. The Wildcats will come to Orlando next fall. This will be legendary coach Bill Snyder's second season of his second tenure as head coach at Kansas State where he was also head coach from 1989-2005 before briefly retiring. It will be UCF's first ever time playing in the state of Kansas.
