Orlando, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's tennis head coach Stephanie Nickitas was pleased to announce that Josephine Haraldson (Hollviken, Sweden) signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Black and Gold next season. Haraldson joins Courtney Griffith, who hails from Georgia and signed in November, as part of the 2010-11 Knights recruiting class.
"We are extremely excited to announce that Josephine Haraldson will be joining UCF women's tennis this fall," said Nickitas, who just completed her third season at UCF. "Josephine is a tremendously talented tennis player that will make an immediate impact on our program. She is a big hitter of the ball and brings years of international tournament experience with her."
Haraldson will be the second student-athlete on the Knights roster who calls Sweden home, as Jenny Frisell resides in Gothenburg and will be a senior in 2010-11.
Ranked in the top seven in Sweden in her age group, as well as the top two in her region recently, Haraldson previously lived in Michigan and New Jersey. She started playing tennis at six years old in Princeton, N.J.
Haraldson is currently studying and practicing at Bastad Tennis Academy, which is one of two national tennis academies sponsored by the Swedish Tennis Federation. She also has been playing on the Junior International Tennis Federation Tour.
