ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team will compete in south Florida for the first time since 2005 when the Knights meet Miami on Dec. 18 as part of the 2010 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. The event will be held at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.
The Orange Bowl Committee announced the field Tuesday and Florida and Kansas State will meet in the other contest at the event. Game times will be announced at a later date.
Tickets are currently available by contacting the Orange Bowl Committee ticket sales office at (305) 341-4702 or by visiting OrangeBowl.org.
UCF has not played Miami since 2002. The appearance in the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic will be the first in program history for the Knights. The event is in its 16th year. Florida, Florida Atlantic, Miami and Richmond participated in 2009.
The Knights are entering their first campaign under new head coach Donnie Jones. Miami went 20-13 a year ago and advanced to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament semifinals for the first time in school history.
