OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team finished second overall at the Conference USA Rowing Championship Sunday at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., behind Tennessee held in conjunction with the South/Central Regional Championship. The Knights won the gold in the varsity four event and placed third in the varsity eight and second varsity races.
UCF senior Jordynn Pauls and sophomore Chelsey Lauzon were both named to the all conference team.
Texas placed third overall, followed by Oklahoma in fourth, Tulsa in fifth and Alabama came in sixth. Kansas, SMU and Kansas State placed seventh, eighth and ninth. UCF alos earned 219 points at the South/Central Regional Championship Sunday, which allowed for an 11th place overall finish and fourth-place South region honors.
Virginia took first place honors overall with 451 points, followed by Wisconsin with 405 points. Michigan State rounded out the top three with 387 points.
The Black and Gold finished fourth in the open four C finals of the South/Central Regional Championships with a time of 7:55.80. The novice eight boat came in second place in the petite finals at 7:03.53, ahead of Alabama who came in at 7:06.19. The finish gave the Knights 14 points.
The varsity four boat earned 36 points for the team and fourth place honors in the petite finals, coming in at 7:41.93. UCF's second varsity eight squad came in at 7:09.85, placing sixth in the petite finals.
The varsity eight boat came in second place in the C finals at 6:40.9, receiving 99 points for the team. The Knights placed just behind Duke who crossed the finish in 6:39.50.
