UCF Rowing Concludes First Day of South/Central Re

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team finished the first day of the South/Central Regional Championships Saturday afternoon, where it competed in the preliminary races in the morning and semi-finals later in the afternoon.

The preliminary races began at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, with UCF placing fifth in its heat in the open four event with a time of 8:08.78. The novice 8+ boat came in fourth in their heat at 7:13.41. The Knights finished third in the varsity four and the second varsity eight races with times of 7:47.58 and 7:11.9, respectively. The varsity eight boat finished with a time of 7:01.81, placing fourth in its heat.

The semi finals began at noon, and the Black and Gold finished third in the open four and the novice eight semi finals. The varsity four boat came in fifth advancing to the B final with a time of 7:47.04. The Knights' second varsity eight boat placed sixth in the semi-finals, coming in at 7:14.84. The varsity eight event was the last race for the Knights as they earned a second-place finish to advance to the C finals.

UCF will compete Sunday morning in the finals and the winner of the Conference USA Championship will be announced.
