C-USA Championship Softball Game Postponed

May 15, 2010

HOUSTON, Texas (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team's Conference USA Championship game against East Carolina Saturday afternoon has been postponed to a 5:30 p.m. ET, start time due to inclement weather in Houston. The contest is set to be broadcast live on CBS College Sports Network. Tom Hart will serve as the play-by-play announcer, while Tammy Blackburn will be the game's color analyst.

UCF's appearance in the league championship game will be its second in the last three years, with both appearances coming at Cougar Softball Stadium. In 2008, the Knights advanced to the finale with a win over UTEP, before defeating then-No. 9 ranked host Houston, 4-2, to earn C-USA's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

UCF enters the league championship game with a 35-20 overall record and the No. 3 seed in the event with a 16-7 conference mark, while the Pirates enter the title contest with a 41-16 overall record and a 16-5 league mark. ECU entered the weekend as the No. 1 seed in the tournament after claiming the regular-season crown in its final C-USA series. The Knights are the No. 3 seed in the championship.

UCF trails East Carolina in the all-time series 2-15, with both of its wins coming in Orlando. One of those wins was in the C-USA Championship hosted by the Knights in 2007.

UCF is 8-3 all-time when playing in the C-USA Championship and is also a perfect 1-0 when playing in the title game of the league tournament.

The Black and Gold also holds a 6-4 record all-time when playing at Cougar Softball Stadium.

Besides being broadcast live on CBS College Sports Network, the C-USA Championship will have live radio coverage and may also be followed on Gametracker on UCFAthletics.com.
