ORLANDO, Fla. (UCF Athletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team will make the short drive to Gainesville, Fla. this weekend to compete at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. The pool includes four national powerhouses ranked in the nation's top 25 in this week's Golfstat rankings led by No. 12 Michigan State, No. 18 Florida, No. 23 Texas A&M, and No. 24 Florida State.

The tournament will be held at the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida, a par-70, 6,002-yard course located less than a mile from the Gator campus. Play will commence with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday immediately followed by the second round of shotgun play. The final 18-hole round will shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The course is a familiar one to the Knights as it was home to the 2009 NCAA East Regional Tournament that Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium), Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) and Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) competed in last season.

Freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) will head the lineup again after leading the Knights at the Liz Murphey Invitational in Athens, Ga. last week. Following in stride will be Aoki, Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany), Detlefsen, and Tomko. Freshman Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) will compete as an individual after making her collegiate team-scoring debut at the Tiger/Wave Classic in March.

"Everyone is swinging really well and they're starting to learn their game much better and it's been that way all year," said head coach Courtney Trimble. "All five have finished in the top 10 in different weeks, so any of them can play well at anytime, and I'm waiting for them to click at the same time."
