Men's Tennis Earns Third Seed at C-USA Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team has earned the No. 3 seed at the 2010 Conference USA Championship and will open the event Friday in Houston against No. 6 East Carolina in the quarterfinals. Rice is hosting the tournament at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.

First serve for UCF's (11-7) with East Carolina is 6 p.m. Eastern. If the Knights defeat East Carolina (18-7), UCF will meet the winner of the No. 2 Rice-No. 7 Southern Miss contest in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Eastern Saturday. The championship match is slated for 1 p.m. Eastern Sunday. The champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

UCF concluded the regular season by winning its final two matches. During the spring, the squad faced seven nationally-ranked teams. Senior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) has been the top singles play for UCF this year, posting a 14-3 mark in dual-match play. He is 7-1 at the No. 2 position.

Head coach Bobby Cashman's team has excelled this spring in doubles as the squad is 41-13 (75.9 percent) in dual-match action. Senior Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain) and junior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) are 13-5 at No. 1, senior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) and sophomore Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.) are 13-3 at the No. 2 spot and Sakey and sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) are 13-3 at No. 3.
