ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., this weekend to compete in the 2010 Conference USA Championship Tournament hosted by Southern Miss. The Knights look to repeat a strong finish after placing a school history best second-place finish in last year's C-USA tournament.

Canebrake Golf Club will host the 15th annual tournament on a par-71, 6,144-yard course designed by Jerry Pate. The teams will play three single rounds of 18 holes during the three-day event starting on Sunday. UCF will tee off from hole 10 starting at 8:50 a.m. CT in threesomes with golfers from Southern Miss and Marshall.

This season during tournaments with other C-USA teams, only No. 32 Tulane and No. 51 Tulsa have placed higher than No. 62 UCF on the leader boards.

The Knights will line up in their order of finish from the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational in Gainesville last week, where the team placed ninth. Freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) will head the Knights' lineup after shooting a career-low 18 score of 67 (-3), leading to her second top-20 finish on the year.

Junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) is in the second slot after being named to the 2010 C-USA Women's Golf All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive year. Detlefsen carries a perfect 4.0 GPA while sporting a 77.52 stroke average and two top-10 finishes this season. Freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) is slotted in third followed by sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) and senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium), both members of last year's second-place team.

Each Knight in the lineup has recorded a top-10 finish this season, and head coach Courtney Trimble is positive her team can perform well again. "They're really excited to go, represent UCF, and bring home a trophy," said Trimble. "Last week everyone played better, they've been working hard, and hopefully this week they will all come together."
