ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior Katie Orletsky will play at the UCF Tennis Complex one final time when the UCF women's tennis team takes on East Carolina Saturday at 10 a.m. Heading into this conference match the Knights currently hold a 3-1 record in Conference USA.
Orletsky came to UCF in 2008 after spending her first two years at the collegiate level at the University of Arizona. In the 2008-09 season, Orletsky was honored with the C-USA Newcomer of the Year award. Orletsky has won seven of her last 10 singles matches moving her to 10-5 for the 2009-10 campaign.
In the Knights last match against No. 43 FIU, UCF (11-6) almost upset the Golden Panthers, 4-3. Sophomore Andrea Yacaman took down Mariana Muci Torres in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 3 singles position. Sophomore Alexis Rodriguez and freshman Jenna Doerfler both forced their opponent to a third set. After losing the first set 6-2, Rodriguez came back and lost only four games in her victory over Christine Seredni. Doerfler was able to come out on top in her close match at the No. 4 spot defeating Maria Spenceley, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
East Carolina (16-8) will play Charleston Southern Thursday before facing UCF Saturday. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the 2006-07 season and the Knights collected the 4-0 victory.
The Knights will travel to Tulsa, Okla, from April 22-25 for the C-USA Championships. Last year, the Black and Gold made it to the second round after it defeated Tulane, 4-0.
