GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) picked up her second career Top 20 individual finish to highlight the UCF women's golf team's performances in the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational this weekend at the University of Florida's par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course.

UCF's final round 302 on Sunday gave the Knights a 54-hole score of 905 and placed the team in the ninth position. No. 12 Michigan State's 868 (+28) claimed the championship by three strokes as No. 24 Florida State fired an 871 (+31) to come in second. UCF finished ahead of a pair of national Top 50 teams in Georgia State and Furman.

Topping off her weekend with a 74 today, Pinegger completed play with a 220 (+10) which tied her for 14th place. Her only previous Top 20 finish was at the Hurricane Invitational in February when she tied for seventh, helping the Knights to the overall team title. Pinegger's performance in Gainesville was highlighted by her 67 in Saturday's second round which held up today to be the lowest round carded out of 240 total rounds played this weekend.

Pinegger was one of three Knights who shot a 74 in Sunday's final round of play as the freshman was joined in that regard by UCF's most elder statesmen. Junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) was one of those three and used the score to vault herself into second place amongst the Knights overall with a final tally of 229. Senior Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium) also took home a 74 on Sunday and finished the event with a 234. Tomko's 234 matched sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) while freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) was in the middle of the UCF pack with her 232. Competing as an individual, freshman Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) turned in a 236 for the 54 holes of play.

UCF is back in action next weekend as the Knights head to Hattiesburg, Miss. for the 2010 Conference USA Championship, April 18-20. The Knights placed second in the league last year, the best showing in school history.
