ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team has earned the ninth seed at the GMC Sierra 2010 Conference USA Championship in Tulsa, Okla., and will begin the event Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern against eighth seed SMU. The tournament will be held at the BOK Center.
The Knights (14-16, 6-10 C-USA) concluded the campaign Saturday with a 66-59 victory at Rice. Junior guard Taylor Young (Orlando, Fla.) scored a team-high 14 points, and freshman guard Marcus Jordan (Chicago, Ill.) added 12 points in the win.
The winner of the UCF-SMU contest will meet No. 1 UTEP in the quarterfinals Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern. The quarterfinal game will be televised live nationally on CBS College Sports.
UCF's games in Tulsa will air on the UCF-ISP Sports Network and its flagship station, 740 The Game in Orlando. Live audio and video will be available at UCFAthletics.com.
The league championship is being held in Tulsa for the first time. In each of the previous four campaigns, Memphis, Tenn., hosted the event.
