ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Facing a nationally-ranked squad for the second time this week, the UCF men's tennis team came up short against No. 29 Denver Saturday, falling 5-2 at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights (7-5) won the doubles point to start the day, but Denver (12-2) won five of six singles tilts.

UCF's lone victory in singles action came at the No. 2 spot, where senior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) had little trouble with David Simson, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win. The victory was the 80th of Sakey's career. He improved to 10-2 this spring.

At No. 1, the Pioneers' Yannick Weihs topped senior Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain), 6-1, 6-3.

UCF was meeting a nationally-ranked squad for the fifth time this spring. On Wednesday, UCF played No. 47 Indiana.

The Knights took victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles spots. Facing Enej Bonin and Andrew Landerwerelen at No. 3, Sakey and sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) won 8-5. At the top spot, Rocafort and junior Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) held on for a 9-7 triumph over Weihs and Jens Vorkfeld.

The match was the third of five-straight in Orlando for the Knights.

UCF will continue its homestand on Thursday, hosting Air Force at 2 p.m.
