ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team is off to its best start since the 1998-99 season with a record of 9-2. After defeating New Mexico Wednesday, the Knights will face an undefeated Akron team Friday at 4 p.m.

Senior Katie Orletsky and sophomore Taylor Dubins both had a pair of victories Wednesday. Orletsky and Christy Core paired up at the No. 2 doubles position and claimed an 8-5 win over Michaela Oldani and Amy Shipperd. In singles, Orletsky collected her seventh-consecutive win defeating Shipperd 6-0, 6-0.

Along with Dubins' victories, the United States Tennis Association announced that the Dubins family is one of six families of the year. Dubins' father Ross and mother Veronica have operated the Sans Souci Tennis Center in North Miami, Fla. for more than 20 years.

Akron is coming off its 10th win of the season after defeating Stetson 6-1 Wednesday. This will mark the first time these two teams have met since 1997 when the Knights defeated the Zips 9-0.

The Knights will conclude their five-game homestand March 24 against UNF at 4 p.m.
