ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF track and field team will open its outdoor season on Saturday, hosting Florida, Florida Tech, Kentucky and Bethune-Cookman in the Black & Gold Challenge at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
The meet kicks off with field events, beginning with the javelin at 9 a.m. The running events will start at 1 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay. The triple jump is the final field event and is scheduled to begin at 2:55 p.m. The meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relay slated for 3:55 p.m.
UCF recently completed their indoor season, finishing in fifth place at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Knights were led by an individual event championship from sophomore Jackie Coward in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Tiki James finished in a close second, crossing the line one one-hundredth of a second behind Coward.
Admission to the meet is free, and a special ticket promotion will be held as the first 100 fans will receive one ticket to a future baseball game. UCF Athletics t-shirts will also be given away at the event.
