UCF Women's Tennis Prepares for New Mexico Wednesday

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After collecting a 5-2 victory over UAB, the UCF women's tennis team will host New Mexico Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Knights currently stand at 8-2 on the season, which is their best start since 1998-99.

Senior Katie Orletsky improved her singles win streak to five games with her victory over UAB's Jenny Cape, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Alexis Rodriguez posted two wins against UAB. Rodriguez paired up with Christy Core at the No. 2 doubles position and defeated Brittany DeFelice and Menanteau Moolman, 8-1. Then at the No. 2 singles spot, Rodriguez knocked off Paula Alvarez, 6-3, 6-3.

New Mexico enters this match with a 2-9 record. This is only the second time the Knights and Lobos have faced off. The only other time these two teams have met was in 1999 and the Lobos came out with a 6-3 victory.

UCF will also host Akron Friday at 4 p.m. And the Knights will finish off their four-game homestand against UNF March 24 at 4 p.m. Admission to the UCF Tennis Complex is free.
