Women's Golf Plays Second Round at Tiger/Wave Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFAthletics.com) -The UCF women's golf team fired a better team score than No. 5 Purdue and C-USA front-runner Tulane in the second round of the Tiger/Wave Classic which is being co-hosted by LSU and Tulane at the English Turn & Country Club's par-72 course in New Orleans.

Overall, UCF moved up slightly and is now tied for 21st with UNC-Wilmington with a score of 646 in a loaded field that includes nine of the nation's top 25 teams. No. 2 Auburn and No. 20 LSU share the tournament lead at 601 heading into Sunday's third and final round. A shotgun start begins at 9:30 a.m. ET and tomorrow, for the second consecutive day, the Knights will be paired with Mississippi State and UNC-Wilmington along with individual competitors.

Sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) is the top Knight through 36 holes with her 158. Junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) and freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) are tied for the second position amongst UCF golfers with identical scores of 162 thus far. Freshman Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) had UCF's top score on Saturday and is fourth amongst her teammates with a 164. Freshman Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) has shot a 171 through two rounds of her team-scoring collegiate debut to round out the Knights' lineup.
