NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team stands in 22nd place through Friday's opening round of the Tiger/Wave Classic which is being co-hosted by LSU and Tulane at the English Turn & Country Club's par-72 course in New Orleans.
The field, which features nine of the nation's top 25 teams, is paced through 18 holes of play by No. 7 Alabama with a 293 (+5). The Knights fired a 321 (+33) in the first of three rounds. UCF will be back in action on Saturday morning, with the Knights teeing off at 10:40 a.m. ET. The third and final round will be at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start. Tomorrow the Knights will be paired with Mississippi State and UNC-Wilmington along with individual competitors.
Sophomore Elisa Aoki (Bradenton, Fla.) paced UCF on Friday with a 77. Junior Katie Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn.) was second amongst UCF golfers with her 79, followed by freshman Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) with an 81. Freshmen Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) and Sammy Vass (Tain, Scotland) each shot an 84 to round out the Knights' lineup.
