Former UCF Women's Soccer Player Montgomery Joins YSU Coaching Staff

Orlando, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A 2002 NSCAA Freshman All-American and member of the UCF women's soccer team from 2002-05, Jennifer Montgomery was named an assistant coach for Youngstown State the school announced this month. Montgomery currently ranks in the top 10 for the Knights in career shots, goals, assists and points.

Montgomery spent last season as the head coach at St. Andrew's Presbyterian College and led the Knights to a 5-11-1 overall record.

"I am elated to add Jen to the staff," head coach Will Lemke said. "She has an exceptional depth of experience as a player and a coach, and has a winning background as a player and has outstanding technical and tactical knowledge.

"Her energy, work ethic and competitiveness will make her a great addition staff and help us with the transition to becoming an elite program in the Horizon League."

Prior to joining the staff at St. Andrew's, Montgomery spent a year as associate head coach and player for the Brevard County Cocoa Expos of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). She also spent time as the head coach and trainer for multiple youth teams in the Space Coast United Soccer Club in 2007-08.

A native of Colton, Calif., Montgomery gained coaching experience as a volunteer assistant at Florida Institute of Technology (2007-08) and as an undergraduate assistant at Central Florida (UCF) (2007).

A four-year letterwinner at UCF, Montgomery spent four seasons playing in the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and three summers in the United Soccer League (USL) W-League.

Montgomery played for UCF from 2002-05 and graduate with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in business commerce and a minor in sports coaching in 2007.

Montgomery holds a USSF D License and a National Youth License.
