ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Ten-year pro Cornell Green entered the 2009 season as a starter on the Oakland Raiders' offensive line at right tackle.

He started all 12 games in which he played in 2009. Green was inactive for weeks five to eight due to a calf injury, but retained his starting position after the week nine bye. He paved the way for a committee of running backs which included Justin Fargas, Michael Bush, and Darren McFadden. The three backs rushed for a combined 1,437 yards on 356 carries and seven touchdowns. The Raiders averaged just 9.0 points per game in the four contests that he missed this past year, posting a 1-3 record.

Green joined the Raiders before the 2007 season, and in three seasons has started 38 games at right tackle. In 2007, he started 10 games, but was placed on injured reserve due to a leg injury. In 2008, he started all 16 games, and was part of a Raiders offense that ranked 10th in the NFL in average rushing yards per game (124.2) and yards per attempt (4.3). Green was part of an offense that rushed for 300 yards on Sept. 14 at Kansas City. The performance was the most rushing yards by the Raiders since 1987. The offensive line did not allow a sack that game.

Green's NFL career prior to Oakland included time with Tampa Bay (2002-03, 2006), Denver (2004-05), and the New York Jets (2000-01). He was part of Tampa Bay's Super Bowl Championship team which defeated the Oakland Raiders Super Bowl XXXVII.

At UCF, Green started 33 games from 1995-98. He was a versatile offensive lineman who played both right and left tackle. Green was recruited as a defensive lineman, but moved to offensive line as a redshirt freshman. He was voted the team's Outstanding Offensive Lineman as a sophomore, junior, and senior before starting his lengthy pro career.
