ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In conjunction with National Girls and Women in Sports Day, UCF teams and student-athletes joined girls from the community to educate them about UCF women's sports teams on Saturday. The event began with mini-clinics put on by various teams from 5-6 p.m. at the UCF Track & Field and Soccer Complex.
Members of the women's soccer, women's golf, women's tennis, volleyball, softball, rowing and track and field teams hosted the rotations of mini clinics.
Jessica Francis (Orlando, Fla.), a senior member of the track and field team recounted on her fun experience today: "[Saturday] was a lot of fun, really cool hanging out with all the kids. They wanted to do a relay, where the team and myself had to run backwards to make it fair, which was funny. We got the chance to talk to them about sports and what they play. It was a great day to just be a female and celebrate athletics."
An autograph session began at 6 p.m. and each girl received a free ticket to the women's basketball game against East Carolina that tipped off at 7 p.m.
