ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Jermaine Taylor's stay in the NBA D-League was a short one. After just four games with Rio Grande Valley, the former UCF star returned to the Houston Rockets Thursday.

Taylor received the call-up after recording a game-high 32 points Wednesday in the Vipers loss to Albuquerque. In four contests in the D-League, the shooting guard averaged 21.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. He was assigned to the Vipers on Jan. 28.

"Jermaine made the immediate impact we had hoped for with a pair of 30-point games with the Vipers. He really made the most of his extended minutes with the Vipers, which shows us his ability to apply the things he has learned during his time with the Rockets and translate that into furthering his basketball development," said Rockets Vice President of Player Personnel Gersson Rosas, who is also the General Manager of the Vipers.

Taylor has appeared in 13 contests with the Rockets this year. He is averaging 2.4 points in 5.5 minutes per game.

When the Knights faced host Houston for a Conference USA contest on Jan. 20, Taylor attended the contest. He watched as his former teammates posted 78-71 win over the Cougars.

The Rockets are scheduled to play at Memphis this evening.

UCF's next game is Wednesday at Memphis. After meeting the Tigers, the Knights will host Tulane on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m.

Notes: Thanks to sophomore guard A.J. Rompza (Chicago, Ill.), who is in the top-10 nationally with 2.8 steals per game, the Knights have recorded 179 swipes in 22 games this year. In 2008-09, UCF had 213 steals in 31 contests... Before Memphis faces UCF, the Tigers will host 13th-ranked Gonzaga Saturday.
