Feb. 24, 2010

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com)-The UCF men's tennis team continues the action this weekend as it travels nearby to Jacksonville to face North Florida. The match will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at the UNF Tennis Complex.

Friday's match will conclude the Knights' (3-2) four-match tour around Florida, after a dual-match weekend down south.

This past weekend the Knights defeated Florida Atlantic 4-3 on Friday and nearly defeated No. 31 Miami, but fell 4-3 on Sunday. Against Florida Atlantic, UCF took the first point of the day by sweeping doubles competition, and then claimed wins at three single spots. In Miami, the Knights lost the point in doubles but gave the ranked team a fight in singles after winning three matches. Senior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) went undefeated over the weekend, as he won all four matches in singles and doubles competition.

North Florida (6-2) is coming off a 6-1 victory over College of Charleston this past Sunday. A year ago, the Knights defeated the Ospreys at home, 5-2.

Following the match at North Florida, head coach Bobby Cashman's Knights return home where they will face Florida A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex.
