Feb. 22, 2010

Orlando, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Fighting off an injury this year, UCF women's tennis junior Jenny Frisell has climbed into the Campbell's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings this week. The native of Sweden sits at No. 102 in the country in singles.

UCF's top player in the singles lineup, Frisell holds a 6-4 record in 2009-10 with five of those matches against ranked opponents. That includes victories over No. 25 Kristi Boxx of Ole Miss and No. 108 Cameron Ellis from Georgia. Frisell also defeated Alabama's Courtney McLane at the UCF Quad Tournament, before McLane went on to beat top players from Florida State and Illinois.

Frisell holds a 2-1 record in dual-match play, defeating the No. 1 players from Michigan State and Memphis, with her only loss occurring due to a retirement from an injury.

The Knights will get back to work when they host South Florida Wednesday at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
