ORLANDO, Fla - Carolin Pinegger's final round performance in the Hurricane Invitational last week secured a win for the UCF women's golf team, and the freshman has been recognized for her play as the Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.
Pinegger was also named Conference USA Female Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. Her career-best score of 69 was two strokes better than any golfer in the tournament's final round. She also tied for the lowest score in any round of the invitational.
With Pinegger improving her score each day from 80 to 74 to 69, her three-round score of 223 (+7) helped the Knights take the lead over Georgia State and win for the first time in seven years. She tied for seventh overall on the individual leaderboard which was the first top 10 finish of her career.
The Knights return to action on March 1-2 with the annual UCF Challenge at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento.
