Orlando, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF fans packed the soccer complex in 2009 to witness the Knights' journey towards their 14th NCAA Tournament appearance. And thanks to a ton of support from the community, UCF climbed from No. 117 to No. 58 in the country in average home attendance.
The Knights witnessed an average of 575 fans come out to the UCF Soccer Complex last season, a jump from 360 spectators in 2008. Only UTEP posted a higher mark than the Knights in Conference USA, bringing in 642 per match in 2009.
In all, a school-record 4,601 fans attended eight UCF games last fall, including a single-mark of 1,142 that saw the Knights take down No. 4 Florida State in overtime, 1-0.
The Black and Gold went on to finish with a 17-5-1 record and be ranked as high as No. 8 in the country. It played the second toughest non-conference schedule before claiming the outright Conference USA regular season title.
