ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the third-straight season, a UCF women's soccer player was selected as a NSCAA/adidas Collegiate Scholar All-American as senior Becca Thomas earned the honor by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Meanwhile, she joined junior Lauren Halbert on the NSCAA College Scholar All-Region Teams.
In December, Thomas became the first UCF midfielder to be named an All-American. The Conference USA Midfielder of the Year, though, picked up her first major academic honor of her career with the spot on the Collegiate Scholar All-American squad.
Thomas helped the Knights go 17-5-1 in 2009 and win the C-USA regular season title. She notched six goals and eight assists for 20 points, and ranks fifth all-time at UCF with 198 shots and fourth with 29 helpers.
The Black and Gold placed two members on the scholar all-region team, marking the second time in three years it had two players selected. While Thomas was busy at center-mid, Halbert was instrumental on the back line. She enabled the defense to collect 10 shutouts with the keepers combining for a 0.86 goals-against average. Halbert also lifted the offense at times, scoring once and adding three assists.
