ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's golf standout David Johnson, who turned professional after concluding his collegiate career last spring, has qualified for the Asian Tour. The Palm Bay native had two strong performances in Thailand last week to earn a tour spot.

During the first stage in Rayong, he shot 70 and 67. The second stage was played in Hua Hin, and Johnson shot 70 and 73 for a total of 280.

As a senior in 2008-09, he was named to All-Conference USA Second Team. Johnson tied for 14th at the NCAA Southeast Regional, and tied for 11th at the league championship.

He was selected as the C-USA Newcomer of the Year as a junior after arriving at UCF from Brevard Community College. Johnson also earned a spot on the all-conference first team after registering five top-10 finishes.

The 2010 Asian Tour campaign begins the first week of February with the Asian Tour International in Bangkok.
