Singles Play Shines for Knights in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Day two at the USF Spring Invitational featured five singles wins for the UCF men's tennis team Saturday. The Knights competed against players from Memphis, and recorded a solid showing at the three-day event.

In Flight 1 action, UCF senior Marc Rocafort (Barcelona, Spain) posted a big 3-6, 6-4, (10-6) win over Leon Nasemann. The Knights picked up victories in each of the top three flights as sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) won at 2, and senior Brock Sakey was a winner at 3. Romano got past Charlie Ramsey (6-4, 6-3), and Sakey held off Michael Janz, 6-3, 3-6, (10-8).

UCF also posted wins in Flight 5 from freshman Mario Samson (Miami, Fla.) and Flight 8 from sophomore Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass.).

The Knights also won three of their four doubles contests against the Tigers. Tournament play in Tampa will conclude Sunday.
