ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF baseball coaching staff may be busy getting its team ready for the 2010 campaign on the field, but it also has emphasized the importance of academics as well. And even though the Knights have 21 newcomers this year, they adjusted extremely well and along with the returning players on the squad who helped set the standard of excellence in the classroom, they notched a 3.152 team grade-point average for the fall semester.

"I am extremely proud of our players and their academic success this past semester," said second-year head coach Terry Rooney. His team notched the highest GPA out of any of the men's programs at UCF. A lot of that credit can also be given to academic advisor Jennifer Alger, who is in her seventh year with the Knights.

With a 3.152 GPA, the Knights have notched at least a 3.15 GPA in two-straight fall semesters. Last year, UCF set a program record with a 3.2 team GPA in the fall while it finished with a 3.1 mark in the spring, the highest spring semester GPA in team history.

Season tickets for the 2010 campaign are already on sale. The Knights will play 36 games at home this year, and reserved chairbacks are just $199, while reserved bleachers seats are only $150. Faculty/staff, youth and senior season tickets are $99. To purchase tickets, call 407-823-1000 or visit UCFAthletics.com.

Tickets for Baseball Knight Fest Jan. 30 are on sale as well. The event is free to everyone who wish to meet the team and get autographs, but for just $5 a ticket fans will be able to grab a ballpark meal and be eligible for prizes. Opening day is set for Friday, Feb. 19, against Savannah State.
