ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Members of the UCF women's basketball team spent much of their Tuesday afternoon at the Florida Hospital for Children, hanging out and playing games with the patients and distributing tickets for the 10K Gold Rush on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.

While at the hospital, UCF juniors D'Nay Daniels, Angelica Mealing, Chelsie Wiley and Jelisa Caldwell along with members of the coaching staff spent time with the children designing UCF t-shirts, playing Rock Band, singing and talking basketball. The Knights also handed out posters, signed autographs and distributed tickets for Sunday's game at the UCF Arena.

"We had an absolute blast hanging out with the kids today," said Daniels. "They are all dealing with tough circumstances, and we tried to bring our smiles and have fun playing games and hanging out. By the end of the day, it was the patients, especially Hot Wheel Neil, that were bringing happiness and fun to us. Their positive attitudes despite the adversity are inspiring and motivating."

The Knights host two Conference USA games this weekend, beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. against Memphis. UCF then welcomes UAB Sunday for the 10K Gold Rush, where numerous promotions are planned as the Knights aim to break the school attendance record. Admission to the game is free for all in attendance and the first 500 fans will receive a 10K Gold Rush t-shirt.

In addition, if at least 500 UCF students are in attendance, one student will win a drawing for a $1500 spring scholarship. Students will need to scan their IDs at the student entrance, and a name will be drawn during a timeout during the game. The winner must meet all financial aid requirements and be present at the time of the drawing to win.

The UCF-UAB contest will also be nationally televised on ESPN2, one of six televised games for the Knights this season. Pam Ward will be the play-by-play announcer for the contest while Kayte Christensen will serve as the color analyst.

Season and single-game tickets are currently available with the UCF Ticket Office. Knight fans can purchase season tickets for each of the team's 14 home games for just $39. For more information on purchasing tickets, contact the UCF ticket office at (407) 823-1000.
