ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF added to its solid recruiting class Monday when head coach Bobby Cashman announced that Matthew Gladstone of Surfside, Fla., has signed a grant-in-aid with the Knights. Gladstone will join the UCF program this fall.

A four-star prospect according to tennisrecruiting.net, Gladstone is ranked 83rd nationally and 23rd in the southeast. In Florida, he is listed as the 17th-best prospect.

Gladstone attends Miami Country Day School and earned a spot on the Miami Herald All-Dade County Second Team as a junior. He garnered all-county honorable mention honors as a sophomore.

"Matthew is a fundamentally-sound player who has really grown into his game," Cashman said. "He is a hard worker who has had some great national results the last few months. He continues to get better and his best tennis is ahead of him."

During his junior career, Gladstone has made great strides, moving from a ranking in the 200s two years ago, to the top-85 nationally this year.

This past summer, he had some strong performances, advancing to the round of 16 at both the USTA National Open in Tallahassee and the USTA Florida Sectional in Daytona Beach.

Gladstone joins Matthew Zachary of Bossier, La., in UCF's impressive recruiting class. Zachary is a five-star recruit who is ranked 68th nationally.
